The short version: This website never asks for your health information. We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers, and we never sell or rent your information. If you contact us, we use what you send only to reply to you.
Who we are
caanrides.org is the website of the Cycling for Active Aging Network (CAAN), a Pierce County, Washington partnership that helps adults 55 and older take up cycling. This policy explains what information this website handles and how. It covers caanrides.org only. Our partner organizations have their own websites and privacy policies.
We never ask for health information on this website
Nothing on caanrides.org asks for information about your health, medical conditions, medications, fitness or disabilities, and we will not add anything that does. Because of this, we do not collect "consumer health data" as defined by Washington's My Health My Data Act through this website.
Please don't send us health information by email. If you'd like to talk about whether CAAN rides are a good fit for your health, we're happy to talk that through in person or by phone. If a message you send us includes health details anyway, we will use it only to answer you, will not share it, and will delete it once your question is resolved.
Information we collect
We collect only what you choose to give us:
- Messages you send us. When you click "Get in touch," your own email program opens and sends us a message. We receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write.
- Sign-up or event forms. If we add a form for rides or events, it will ask only for basic contact details such as your name, email address and, optionally, a phone number.
We do not collect financial information, and this website is not directed to children under 13.
Cookies, analytics and tracking
This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics, advertising pixels, social media trackers or any tool that builds a profile of you.
Two kinds of technical information are handled by services this website relies on:
- Our web host automatically records standard server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site running and secure.
- Google Fonts supplies the typefaces on this page. When the page loads, your browser requests the fonts from Google's servers, which receive your IP address. Google describes how it handles this in its own privacy policy.
How we use your information
- To reply to your questions and requests.
- To send you information about rides or events you've asked about.
- To connect you with the CAAN partner organization best able to help, such as 2nd Cycle for e-bike lending or the Tacoma Washington Bicycle Club for group rides, but only when you ask us to or agree to it.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we will not add you to a mailing list unless you ask to join one.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information. We share it only with a CAAN partner organization when you've asked us to or agreed to it, or when the law requires it.
How long we keep it and how we protect it
We keep messages and contact details only as long as we need them to help you, and we review and delete old records at least once a year. We use reasonable safeguards, such as password-protected accounts, to protect what we hold.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we have about you,
- correct it,
- delete it, or
- stop contacting you.
Email us at hello@caanrides.org and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for making a request.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here and update the effective date at the top. If we ever changed our practice of not asking for health information on this website, we would publish an updated policy before doing so.
